Mara Explorer-Masai Mara

From the legendary Mara plains to the ancient Arabian island of Lamu, our Explorer portfolio offers an exceptional ecotourism experience in some of Africa’s most exclusive and remote locations.

Mara Explorer -Masai Mara Kenya
The Explorer Collection offers visitors an exceptional ecotourism experience in some of Africa's most exclusive and remote locations. Our flagship camp in the heart of the Maasai Mara and our enchanting desert-island hideaway on Lamu Island offer the very best of both beach and bush, while our private partners invite guests to visit some of Africa's most luxurious properties on wildlife reserves in Laikipia, Maasailand and the Great Rift Valley. On an Explorer holiday, the standards of luxury and adventure are matched only by the deep knowledge of your hosts - the most qualified people to introduce you to Africa.

Opened in early 2001, Mara Explorer has elevated the art of the African safari to spectacular new heights. This exclusive five-star camp, situated on a thickly forested river in the middle of the Maasai Mara reserve, offers guests the ultimate wilderness retreat, where you can watch elephants or giraffes drinking from the privacy of your verandah – or from your own outdoor Victorian bathtub! Situated in the heart of the reserve, Explorer enjoys prime views of the spectacular wildebeest migration between June and September, and some of the world’s most rewarding Big Cat sightings during the remainder of the year.
