Larsens Camp a small exclusive camp nestled in the lush lawns on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro, a river in Kenya's famous Samburu National Reserve. The camp is approximately 320 km north of Nairobi, on the border of the old Northern Frontier Province. Named after Erik Ole Larsen, a legendary Dane credited with defining the luxury safari under canvas. Samburu Larsens camp is bordered by the Uaso Nyiro River on one side and there is nothing to see but pristine nature on the other three. With just 20 tented accommodation tents, our all inclusive adventures offer a distinct luxury African safari experiences.
Your Samburu Larsens camp experiences begin the moment you land at Samburu airstrip. Climb into the waiting Safari Land cruiser and your driver/guide drives you directly to larsens.Leaving the hot, dry Samburu National reserve behind, Larsens camp will welcome you into cool, green oasis with a freshly squeezed grass of mango juice and a personal greeting from your Larsens camp host
Designed in contemporary safari style, luxury is blended with the stunning surroundings of the spectacular Samburu Game Reserve. At Larsens Camp tranquillity and nature embrace you the minute you enter Larsens with the river being the perfect stage for an endless pageant of wildlife - elephants rolling and trumpeting in the shallows, timid impala nervously drinking, baboons and vervet monkeys swinging through the canopy of trees. The only man made noise is that of the young Samburu flutist as he slowly makes his way along the river front. He unobtrusively doubles as a palm nut thrower when the monkeys become too bold.
Accommodation
Larsens camp offers 20 free standing luxurious tented accommodations each with a private balcony. All tents are discreetly sited along the west bank of the Uaso Nyiro River with the result that the tents are bathed with light at sunrise. Each tent stands on a plinth of natural stone and all have en suite private bathrooms stocked with a range of Molton Brown toiletries, flushing toilets, constant hot water and 24 hour electricity (240 volts). Each tent features 1 king or 2 twin beds designed in chic safari style.
The Camp has a dining tent is open on three sides and faces the river. A delicious breakfast and barbecue are cooked in front of you, behind the scenes the chefs are working hard preparing the mouth-watering dishes for which Larsens in renowned. A first class dinner is elegantly served by candlelight on tables set with silver and china.
