The Migration: from July – September, over a million wildebeest pour into the Masai Mara’s lush grasslands from the Serengeti. Sala’s Camp is very well located for the migration. Game viewing is exceptional: dramatic river crossings, and plentiful predators.

ACCOMMODATION:  7 individual canvas tents, accommodating up to 14 guests. One of the rooms is a honeymoon / family suite with shared central area. Tents are twin or double. Bathrooms have hot showers and flush toilets. Electricity is battery powered. A standby generator is used for refrigeration and charging equipment, cameras etc.

FACILITIES: Excellent home cooked cuisine, fun evening sundowners and outside candlelit and moonlit dinners combine to make every stay a unique and personal experience.

ACTIVITIES:Safaris: By vehicle, on foot or by air.

  • Game drives at Sala’s Camp offer exceptional game viewing in an unrivalled wilderness area with prolific wildlife.
  • For the avid bird watcher, the Masai Mara has over 450 species.
  • On foot exploring the river banks around camp.
  • By air.Hot air ballooning offers the chance to view the earth from the air, and is extremely popular during the migration season. It is offered from Keekorok, around 20 minutes drive away from Sala’s Camp.
  • Culture: The Mara is home to the Maasai people, whose traditional existence is nomadic. Many of the staff at Sala’s Camp are local Maasai, who are proud of their heritage and keen to share their knowledge. Cultural visits to nearby manyattas (villages) can be arranged from camp.

WEDDINGS &HONEYMOONS:Honeymooners will love the honeymoon suite at Sala’s Camp. Enjoy private romantic dinners, and for added ‘wow’ factor, a balloon trip and champagne breakfast is unforgettable. Weddings can be arranged. We suggest a civil wedding in the home country before the celebratory element at Sala’s Camp.

CHILDREN: Children of all ages are welcome at Sala’s Camp.

CLIMATE:At 5000 feet above sea level, nights are cool and days are warm / hot.
