Sosian Lodge

Sosian lodge is a beautifully restored African ranch house that was built in the 1940’s by Italian artisans, and accommodates up to fourteen people in the atmosphere of a private home. Seven cottages lie in the tropical garden overlooking Mt Kenya and miles of unspoiled Africa, each with its own private verandah and ensuite bathroom.

Sosian ranch itself is a privately owned game ranch, located on the Laikipia Plateau, an area historically known for its wildlife and ranching traditions. Whilst Sosian ranch retains a small herd, of cattle the majority of the land has been turned over to wildlife. The original house forms the centrepiece of the Sosian lodge. The lodge has a swimming pool, tennis court and miles of wilderness to explore with top guides. Sosian is well known for its delicious home cooking using fresh ingredients from the organic vegetable garden and for its warm and friendly hospitality.

An extremely wide range of activities are offered including:

  • Day and night vehicle safari,
  • walking Safaris,
  • horse and camel rides around the ranch,
  • overnight camping in remote locations,
  • plus swimming, tennis and snooker back at base or
  • just admire the stunning scenery of Laikipia and the snow capped peaks of Mount Kenya on the horizon.
  • One particular highlight for many guests is the glorious walk up to the waterfalls on the Ewaso Narok River. With some Dutch courage and a little encouragement, one can jump from the 30 foot falls into the deep pool below.

Sosian is dedicated to the conservation of wildlife and is a member of the Laikipia Wildlife Forum, working to protect Laikipia's wildlife through sustainable land uses such as eco-tourism.

Seasons

Sosian is open all year round.
