Beach Holidays
The Indian Ocean coastline of Kenya and Tanzania, is an area of outstanding raw natural beauty and culture. The white sand beaches and warm Indian ocean waters are home to exotic coral reefs, mangrove forests, turquoise lagoons, creeks, forests, secluded islands and unspoiled bays combined with over 600 marine species including endangered sea turtles, whale sharks, manta rays, dolphins and humpback whales.
An integral part of the maritime Arabian Spice Trade for over a thousand years, the East African coastline forms a unique cultural melting pot between the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
What activities are available?
From stand up paddle boarding with dolphins, horse riding along the white sand beaches, snorkeling on the colourful coral reefs to exploring Zanzibar’s Spice Route, sunrise yoga classes or skydiving over the Diani beach – there is an activity to suit everyone’s taste.
When is the best time to go to the coast?
The East African coast weather is dictated by two tradewinds; the Kaskazi and the Kusi.
From December to mid-March, the Kaskazi provides hot, sunny days and clear skies.
From April to mid-September the Kusi brings a cooler climate and rains in April followed by warm days through to September.
Are the beaches tidal?
Yes, tidal beaches are characteristic of the East African coastline. The tides change depending on the time of year and affect different areas to varying extents.
The East African coast has a shallow shelf stretching out to a coral reef. At low tide the coral rock pools provide a view in to fascinating marine life; crabs, shells, eels, starfish, sea urchins and fish nursery pools. At high tide, the warm sheltered waters are ideal for swimming and snorkeling.
Beyond the reef drop-off the main ocean offers world renowned game fishing including Sailfish, Marlin and Yellow-fin Tuna. Magnificent humpback whales migrate to the Indian Ocean in the summer months before returning to the Antarctic feeding grounds during the winter – providing excellent whale watching on the East African coast.
We can organise deep sea fishing, scuba diving on the coral reef, snorkeling and an array of water sports.
